DANDELION GUIDE: PLANNING AND SUPPORT
Imagining Your Last Day
Reflecting on your final moments
This might feel odd. But it matters and can be important to you and your family. Think about what you want at the very end, write it down, and be prepared to be flexible (and tell your family the same!).
The Ideal Setting on Your Last Day
-
Where do you want to be?
Do you want to be a home or in a facility (hospital, hospice)?
-
Imagine the room you are in - what does it feel like?
Bright and cheery with natural light?
Cozy and warm with candles?
Do you want a view out the window?
-
How would you like the room to smell?
Which incense or candle scents do you like?
Maybe the smell of fresh baked cookies?
Or no special scent at all?
-
Would you like visitors?
If so, who?
How many at a time?
Is there anyone who needs to be called to inform them of what’s happening?
Conversely, is there anyone you do not want to see?
-
Do you have a playlist?
Or even a genre of music that you like?
-
Do you want to be touched?
Or have a massage?
If so, would you like hands, feet, hair, or head?
-
Do you have pets?
Would you like them to be there?
-
Are you religious?
Would you like any religious rites performed?
-
Is there anything you really don’t want?
